Get Ahead Of Fall Maintenance With These Tips!

When you live in an area that sees a significant change with the seasons, like here in Burlington Vermont, you know you need to plan ahead for the changing of the seasons. That’s why we’ve compiled a quick checklist for you to reference as the days get shorter and the nights grow colder!

Touch Up The Windshield

No matter how careful you are, sometimes your windshield can get hit with little scratches and chips. It’s possible you’ve had the same crack in your window for quite a while, but before fall’s lower temperatures roll around, you’ll definitely want that checked and repaired. Changing temperatures can cause cracks and minor chips to expand to make it impossible to drive your car!

Look At Your Tires

Making sure your tires are still in good shape is always a good decision at the turning of the seasons. This means checking for normal pressure, adequate traction, and undamaged sides. Any bulges or uneven air pressures point to damaged tires. If you notice that your tires are too smooth,  now is the time to get them replaced.

If you aren’t sure what the best way to check is, take a penny and place it so Lincoln’s head is going down into the tread. If the tread doesn’t go to the top of Lincoln’s head, then it’s definitely time to get new tires!

Check Your Lights

Even if you try to avoid driving at night, the shorter days make it so that pretty much everyone is going to be driving in the dark at some point. The best way to make sure you and other drivers are safe is to get your lights checked out. They may light up, but are they bright enough? Headlights, tail lights, turn signals, fog lights, they’re all important, so make sure they’re working!

Check Fluid Levels

Summer can be hard on your fluid levels. Coolant really takes a hit in hotter months, but so do windshield, brake, and transmission fluids. And don’t forget the oil! Having your levels checked, fluids flushed and replaced, or even just topped off early can save you a headache later on when new weather conditions require the adjustment.

No matter what your maintenance requirements are, at any time of the year, you know that you can come out to Autosaver MAX in Burlington, VT. We know what vehicles need when the seasons change, and we have it all!
